Costume Design
Every costume begins with a journey into the world of a character. Through research, observation, and exploration, I investigate their personal history, physicality, and body language, while considering the time period and the environment in which the story unfolds.
From these discoveries, I develop moodboards and visual references that gradually transform into detailed costume sketches. Through this process, the character’s silhouette, materials, and visual identity begin to take shape.
Depending on the project, I also bring these designs to life by creating and producing the costumes myself.
The following images offer a glimpse into different stages of selected costume design projects, from early research and conceptual explorations to developed designs and realised costumes.
Starting with Moodboards
The following moodboards are from the concept development for “Le Conte d'Hoffmann”, created in collaboration with the director Larissa Copetti as part of the European Opera-directing Prize (EOP).
From Design to Costume - sourcing and alteration
These costumes were realised by adapting carefully selected existing garments to my design, responding to the practical conditions of a production without a costume workshop.
From Design to Costume - Making
The following images document the evolution of a costume created for a sci-fi dance project during my studies, following the process from early design ideas and material explorations through prototyping
and pattern making to the finished costume.
