Odyssey

Dance production by Bryan Arias

Inspired by Homer’s The Odyssey and Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, Bryan Arias’ choreography unfolds as a journey through space and time.

The stage design translates this idea into a landscape of fragmented stone walls and scattered ruins, remnants of an undefined past that seem to carry traces of different times within them. Layers of texture, paint and plaster suggest a surface repeatedly altered and overwritten, turning the architecture into a visual record of time and memory. Set against the openness of the stage, these weathered structures frame the dancers without defining a single place or period, allowing the space to shift between past, present and imagined worlds.
