Elise - An entire field of possibilities

A workshop production

Created for the 13th Festival Primeurs, Elise – An Entire Field of Possibilities follows a young woman as she leaves home, begins university and gradually develops an independent life and identity.

The stage translates this journey into four grey mobile boxes of different heights. At the beginning, only three are present: while the other performers already occupy their own structures, Elise remains on the floor. As the story progresses, she gradually builds and claims a structure of her own, turning the changing stage image into a simple visual metaphor for finding her place and constructing an identity.

The costumes distinguish between Elise and her mother as individual characters and two performers who continuously shift between different roles, representing the wider social world around them. Neutral grey tracksuits provide a base for these changing characters, transformed through individual costume pieces and props, while Elise and her mother retain more consistent looks throughout the performance.

Developed within a short rehearsal period and with limited workshop and technical resources, the design uses a small number of adaptable elements to support the fast-changing structure of the production.
